Beautiful flowers and plants do seem to evoke a strange sense of melancholia in spite of an initial jolt of joy and wonder. Perhaps they are a reminder of our vanishing youth or even that we, too, will lose our vitality and fade away into the oblivion that awaits. Nevertheless, joy and wonder in the intricate shapes, colours and textures remain. Seize the day!
