The Liminal Forest

I live in a house surrounded by the boreal forest – a transitional zone where imagination can roam freely and am drawn to making semi-representational images of the natural world. I am intrigued by the metaphorical meanings ascribed to aspects of the natural world especially forests.  My curiosity has been piqued by Jung’s view of forests as liminal, transitional spaces, symbol of the unconscious mind. The trees in my forest barely suggest the dark green spruce trees of my Northern surroundings.
