Haines Junction is 150 kilometres from Whitehorse and takes about an hour and a half along a good road.  There is lenty to see in the Junction and in the surrounding area.  A short way along the Haines Road (leads to Haines, Alaska), there is Kathleen Lake and Dezadeash Lake.  There are quite a few hikes to choose from.

Heading north on the Alaska Highway, skirting the St. Elias World Heritage site on your left, will bring you to Kluane Lake and sheep mountain, where you may get lucky and see Dall sheep in the wild (bring binoculars).  You can take a short side trip to the other side of Kluane Lake and see old log buildings at Silver City.  The whole area is very photogenic and the trip may take longer than you think if you stop to take photos of all the sights!
